This Mini-Mod explores how leaders can intentionally create the space, time, and environment needed for insight – something that has become increasingly scarce amid constant noise, urgency, and cognitive overload.
Open time for mind wandering and reflection gives leaders space to process emotions, think more strategically, restore mental energy, and often uncover insights that don’t emerge when we’re pushing for answers. Sometimes, it’s not about doing the hard thinking work of solving a problem at all, it’s about giving the brain room to breathe so it can generate a solution more organically.
This topic is so central to my work that I spent a year preparing for and delivering a TED talk on it (which I’m proud to say has reached nearly a quarter of a million people): The Gift and Power of Unstructured Time
